Bradford & Barthel Sponsoring Day-Long Seminars on Almaraz/Guzman/Ogilvie II & PD Inflation
The Bradford & Barthel defense law firm is sponsoring a series of all-day seminars discussing defense responses to Almaraz/Guzman II, Ogilvie II and Permanent Disability Inflation in Newport Beach (October 9th), San Francisco (October 23), and San Diego (November 13).
A B&B founding partner and acknowledged expert on the AMA Guides, Don Barthel will be the keynote speaker at the all-day events, entitled "The Battle Against PD Inflation Continues." Barthel described the seminars as "defense friendly" with "lots of practical practice tips&qwuot; aimed at sharing strategies for molding Almaraz/Guzman II and Ogilvie II into "defense weapons," "We’ve seen permanent disability inflationary tactics for the last several years via misapplication of the AMA Guides and PDRS. We’ve seen shenanigans with such tactics as arousal/sleep disorder, sexual dysfunction and questionable psych claims. These claims can be defeated, so long as defendants know precisely how to attack such claims. These strategies, as well as related tactics including apportionment and the new QME regulations, will be thoroughly discussed."
Bradford & Barthel is the lead defense firm in Guzman v. Milpitas Unified School District, one of the two consolidated cases that the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board took up in Almaraz/Guzman I & II. These cases are expected to proceed directly to the Courts of Appeal.
The cost of the all day seminar is $149.00 (lunch and parking included), with a free basic AMA Guides-based rating analysis ($195.00 value) for 3 or more pre-registered attendees. This training has qualified for 5.5 hours of adjuster continuing education credits; MCLE credit is also pending for 5.5 hours.
