Cheryl B. Frumes is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Political Science and a minor in English. She obtained her Juris Doctor from the San Fernando Valley College of Law while working full-time as a legal secretary for Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, one of the largest international law firms headquartered in California. Not only has she been practicing law since 1983 in the State of California, she was also licensed to practice in the State of Arizona in 1995.
Ms. Frumes has been a licensed attorney for over 25 years, having spent the last eight of those years in the practice of workers' compensation defense law. She has litigated numerous issues before the WCAB, including, but not limited to, contested utilization review issues, treatment issues, AOE/COE issues, as well as disability valuations. She obtained a "take nothing" in her very first trial at the WCAB regarding an alleged psychiatric disability resulting from a charge of sexual harassment.
Prior to her immersion in workers' compensation, Ms. Frumes worked as a civil attorney covering all aspects of civil law, including landlord/tenant, family law, personal injury and contract disputes.
When not involved in battles with applicant attorneys, Ms. Frumes spends her time as the leader of her daughter's Girl Scout troop and volunteers her time with a childrens' theater group in which her daughter is involved. She enjoys good mystery novels, musical theater, and spending time with her friends and extended family.
