J. Douglas Mestad graduated from California State University, Fresno, where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law in 1982 and was thereafter admitted to the State Bar of California in 1983.
Mr. Mestad is experienced in defense workers’ compensation, working as in-house counsel for over 20 years with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, before joining Bradford & Barthel 's experienced team in Tarzana, California. In fact, Mr. Mestad was "born" into a workers' compensation family, as Mr. Mestad is the son of John B. Mestad, the attorney who represented Bonnie Sumner in Sumner v WCAB which stands for the proposition that in order to settle out applicant's death benefits, a formal waiver in the C & R is mandated.
Mr. Mestad enjoys photography, specializing in wildlife. He has traveled extensively through out the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. He enjoys visiting places of historic interest, such as the Little Big Horn National Battlefield in Wyoming.
