John Armington received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at the University of California at San Diego with honors. He then attended the University of Southern California, receiving a Master's degree in Public Administration. In 1989 he received a Juris Doctorate from Western State University, where he was awarded an American Jurisprudence Award for excellence in legal research and appellate brief writing.
Mr. Armington began his 19-year career as an attorney following work as a governmental budgets-, legislative-, and systems-analyst for Orange, Kings, and Los Angeles Counties as well as the cities of Lancaster and San Clemente. His prior experience also includes work in risk management and law enforcement administration. For several years, while practicing law full time, Mr. Armington taught State and Federal legal research, appellate brief writing, and oral argumentation as an adjunct Professor at Western State University.
Mr. Armington's career has focused on workers' compensation defense for various clients and employers, including both small companies as well as large business entities, such as Viacom Corporation. He has also defended public entities with a diverse employee base, such as the County of Los Angeles.
Since 2005 Mr. Armington has served as a Judge pro-tempore at the Anaheim Workers' Compensation Appeals Board. He has defended cases through the trial level, including the filing of Petitions for Reconsideration and the filing of appeals and responsive pleadings with the State Courts of Appeal. He received a Take-Nothing on a 3-day AOE-COE trial regarding fibromyalgia/psych with Judge Douglas Watkins. Another Take Nothing was awarded to Mr. Armington on a psychiatric case before Judge Christine Nelson. Mr. Armington prevailed at every tier of the proceeding, and he was victorious in his response to the Petition for Reconsideration and response to the Court of Appeal. During his many years as a defense attorney, Mr. Armington has taken countless cases regarding AOE-COE issues in Psych, Internal, and Orthopedics to trial, with some very successful outcomes.
Mr. Armington and his family have lived in Orange County for over 25 years. His personal interests are writing, calligraphy, and fresh-water fishing with his wife and son.
