A San Francisco native, John Durr was raised outside Santa Rosa. Following his dream, he worked as a union stagehand, technically supporting legitimate theatre and doing motion picture production. This work led to a successful career in the design and installation of high-end electronic audio and security systems for local and Fortune 50 Companies as well as a stint running a 10,000-square foot disco in the 1980s.
Thereafter, four years of attending night school at Empire College in Santa Rosa (while working full time) led to earning a Juris Doctorate with Honors in 1999, and subsequent admission to the California State Bar. Mr. Durr began his legal career with the largest plaintiffs firm on the West Coast, specializing in asbestos personal injury.
Mr. Durr then joined the Santa Rosa office of a statewide workers' compensation defense firm in 2003, and he has practiced in front of Workers' Compensation Appeals Boards in Santa Rosa, Ukiah, Napa, Eureka, Crescent City, Marysville, Oakland, Sacramento, and San Francisco. Additionally he presented oral arguments to the First District Court of Appeals in a published Workers Compensation Case. He joined Bradford & Barthel's Santa Rosa office in 2008.
Mr. Durr lives with his wife Candace in Sebastopol, and they have two children.
