Joseph Votroubek was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa before leaving to attend the University of Iowa where he received a Bachelor of Arts in both English and Communications. He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate at California Western School of Law, a private institution in San Diego, California, in May of 2004. While in law school, he completed a clinical program with the prestigious, California Innocence Project. His work there helped result in the exoneration and release of Timothy Atkins of Los Angeles and John Stoll of Bakersfield, who had served a combined 40 years in prison.
After passing the California State Bar Exam, Mr. Votroubek moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he worked as a general practitioner before moving back to San Diego to begin his career in workers' compensation law. He went to work for a large firm which handled workers' compensation and Longshore and Harborworkers' claims. Mr. Votroubek went on to begin his own workers' compensation practice before joining Bradford & Barthel in 2009. His primary areas of practice remain workers' compensation defense and subrogation.
On a personal note, Mr. Votroubek has been with his girlfriend, Megan for four years. When not at work, Mr. Votroubek enjoys reading, music, golfing, hiking, and camping.
