Mark Thompson graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and English. He thereafter went into the military and left as a Captain in the U.S. Army. Subsequently he earned a Masters degree in Public Administration (M.P.A.) with an emphasis in Personnel and Risk Management from California State University, Sacramento. Thereafter, he earned his Juris Doctorate from Western State University College of Law. While at Western State University, Mr. Thompson was appointed Editor of the Western State Law Review and also was elected President of the Law Student Division of the Orange County Trial Lawyers. While in law school he was awarded the George Tolin Academic Scholarship.
After that, Mr. Thompson earned a Masters degree in Criminology from California State University, Fresno. He taught classes at a number of institutions, including Orange Coast College, Coastline Community College, Cerritos College, Humphreys Law School, University of San Francisco, National University, Meric College and ITT Technical College, and California State University, Fresno. The courses he taught include Paralegal Training, Criminology, Public Administration, Risk Management, Human Resources and Workers Compensation.
Mr. Thompson has a background in litigation as a Deputy District Attorney in Sacramento and Kings Counties. He also was a Federal Attorney with HEW, working with the Office of Hearings and Appeals, Social Security Administration. It was in this position that he got his feet wet in Disability Law, which transitioned into Workers' Compensation. Mr. Thompson has 25 years experience in numerous facets of Workers' Compensation, including applicant and defense. He has worked with several defense firms, his own defense firm, and, most recently, as the Managing Attorney of Bradford and Barthel's Sacramento Office.
Mark Thompson is a member of the Indiana State Bar, California State Bar, and the Fresno County Bar Associations.
