Rosa Hernandez earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism/Public Relations from California State University, Fresno. She obtained her first exposure to workers' compensation in 1990 when she became a job developer at a vocational rehabilitation agency. She continued her career in vocational rehabilitation by becoming part of Fremont Compensation Insurance Company's in-house rehabilitation department and began pursuing a Master's degree in vocational rehabilitation counseling.
Prior to completing her Master's in vocational rehabilitation counseling, Ms. Hernandez moved to Hawaii and became a claims adjuster for an independent insurance adjusting agency, then Travelers insurance in Honolulu, Hawaii. Wishing to expand her career options, Ms. Hernandez attended and graduated with a Juris Doctorate from the William S. Richardson School of Law in Honolulu in December 2000. During law school she was comments editor of the Asian Pacific Law & Policy Journal.
After being admitted to the Hawaii State Bar, Ms. Hernandez practiced in employment and insurance law for a short period of time. Enticed by the abundance of activities, wonderful weather, and expansive opportunities, Ms. Hernandez moved to San Diego in 2002. She worked as a claims adjuster at Preferred Employers Insurance. After being admitted to the California Bar in June of 2003, Ms. Hernandez began practicing and specializing in California workers' compensation insurance defense. She brought her experience to the San Diego office of Bradford & Barthel in 2006.
When not practicing law, Ms. Hernandez enjoys hiking, concerts, wine tasting, and spending time with friends and family.
