Mr. Schwartz was born and raised in Contra Costa County. Having his career as a baseball player cut short by injury, he attended the University of the Pacific, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Thereafter, he attended law school at McGeorge School of Law, acquiring a Juris Doctorate in 1993.
Mr. Schwartz began his legal career as a prosecuting attorney in the Sacramento County District Attorney's office, handling a number of cases to verdict by jury. Thereafter, he began practicing workers' compensation and employment-related matters in 1994.
Joining Bradford and Barthel as an associate attorney in 1998, Mr. Schwartz was elected partner in 2004.
Mr. Schwartz has been the recipient of several awards, including being named "Brother of the Year" for his role in Alpha Kappa Lambda, Omicron chapter. He was recently considered for award of Order of Merlin, second class.
