Syed M. Masood attended the University of Toronto at Scarborough, where he
graduated with a major in English and received a Bachelor of Arts, Honors
College, with High Distinction. Designated as a Graduate Fellow, he
received his Juris Doctorate from William and Mary College of Law in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Mr. Masood has been admitted to the practice of law by the State Bar of
California and the United States District Court, Eastern District of
California.
Before joining the firm of Bradford & Barthel, Mr. Masood worked with the
San Diego County Public Defender's Office. Additionally, while working with
the Office of the State Public Defender in Sacramento, Mr. Masood crafted
arguments in capital appeals cases for briefs that would be presented before
the Supreme Court of California.
As a Graduate Fellow at William and Mary, and a member of the William &
Mary Journal of Women, Mr. Masood was challenged to research various aspects
of the law on behalf of faculty members. His research led him to explore
the benefits of flexible standards as opposed to rules in the context of
property law, as well as current socio-political issues in Islamic Law.
While in law school, Mr. Masood's exploration continued into the fields of
commercial law, women's' rights based on historical perspectives, and
finally, criminal law.
As a member of B&B's San Jose office, Mr. Masood's primary area of practice
is workers' compensation.
In his spare time, Mr. Masood is an avid reader who enjoys fiction. He also
watches a variety of sports, but especially enjoys following hockey and
tries to catch the Toronto Maple Leafs whenever they are in town.
Mr. Masood currently resides in San Jose. He speaks several languages,
including Urdu and Hindi, and he is also conversational in Punjabi.
