Mr. Jones-Landry (Dave) graduated from Sonoma State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature in 2001. Although he originally intended to land a career as a high school English teacher, he later decided that his true calling was in practicing law. In 2004, he graduated from Lewis & Clark Law School in Oregon, with a Juris Doctorate and a certificate in Environmental and Natural Resource Law. During his last year in law school, Mr. Jones-Landry competed in a national moot court competition against teams from 72 other law schools. After completing an instrumental argument in the final round, his team brought the national championship back to Lewis & Clark. Mr. Jones-Landry started a solo practice in 2006 by addressing environmental issues, but his focus soon changed to civil litigation, with an emphasis on handling construction contract performance disputes and related matters. In 2008, his practice incorporated administrative litigation related to workplace safety, defending employers against citations issued by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA), Fed/OSHA, and the Federal Mine Safety and Health Administration. As an integral part of his workplace safety defense practice, Mr. Jones-Landry defended against a variety of claims filed before the California Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, including extending his practice to defending insurance carriers in Workers’ Compensation claims, Labor Code Section 132a claims, and claims for alleged “serious and willful misconduct” under Labor Code Section 4553. Although a litigator who doggedly pursues the best results for his clients, Mr. Jones-Landry makes civility a high priority in interacting with all parties involved. He has found that treating other parties and their counsel with respect helps to move litigated matters along as efficiently as possible. While peripheral disputes cannot always be avoided, his approach has the affect of minimizing time spent on procedural distractions while still allowing for aggressive strategies. An active volunteer in his community, Mr. Jones-Landry devotes much of his spare time to working with disadvantaged youth through fundraising activities and hands-on work with kids. He also enjoys cooking as a hobby and making frequent trips to the Sonoma coast with his family.
